Piper’s New DIA Post

Dear Agents of the Doggie Intelligence Agency,

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself to you. My name is Piper, but I am commonly called Pippy by my peer group as well as by my DIA superiors. Usually, I am not called Piper unless I don’t want to go outside to tinkle, then I get “Piper!” from my Front Desk adviser.

I have been working with the DIA for about 3 years. We’ve had tremendous missions. We also have many outposts and Agents and wonderful adventures. My recent front right leg amputation that happened Feb. 4th of this year has recently made me be re-assigned for rehab and recovery. It’s been a few short weeks but already I am up and running around a bit.

I’m a 13 yr. old Black Labrador. I’m and English Lab and therefore a bit shorter and more barrel chested than my American Cousin. Many times in my life people who didn’t know me or my true breed thought I was fat, when in all respect, I was continually healthy, happy, and active.

For that reason I joined the DIA and have also had the privilege of working besides such great doggers as Max, the Puggle who is in the New York City division with me, Agents Clarence and Chester who head up the East Wing in New Jersey. We also have a White Plains agent named Elvis. He’s pretty much a loner. Agent Auntee is a our full time nurse and care-giver/doggie sitter and heads up the West Wing on the same NJ Floor. There is the Front Desk with an Agent X who gives us our assignments.

My report states that I lost my limb b/c of a recon mission in Egypt. The truth is I had that cancer and it was to be de-bulked, but when my doctor got in there, the tumor had wrapped its tentacles around my muscles so much that there was no muscle left and the evil tumor, named Puffy, had to be taken out. Literally. It was a very hard decision, but when Headquarters was notified by phone from the head surgeon, it was decided to take the leg.

I have given my leg for my country.

I am happy and adjusting well. I take walks with much resting inbetween. I know I will get stronger as time goes on.

I am also very excited that Spring is coming as it’s been brutal here in the North East. Soon I shall try my legs at swimming again, as it is my most favorite thing to do, after chasing the tennis ball of course. I’m not sure who invented the Chuck It, but I thank the Lord every night for that marvelous invention.

I am looking forward to meeting new Agents here, and I hope you share your valiant stories and missions with me.

I encourage all Agents to keep their heads down and noses up. It’s a jungle out there !

Your new friend I remain,

Agent Piper
